Squash and the like. Problems starting seeds indoors

Starting squash and the like indoors comes hard for me.

The always seem to die.

The are started under florescent lights or on a south facing window. We start them about three to four weeks before setting them out in four inch pots filled with miracle grow potting soil. They are germinated on the utility room floor that has in floor heat. As soon as the first sprout breaks the surface they are moved to the light. They all just shrivel up and die they don't even get much of a true leaf, the true leaves that do grow are stunted and sickly. Thanks to anyone who can help.
