When I gardened in Minnesota I had miscanthus which was beautiful and I loved cutting the plumes and bringing them indoors where they poofed wonderfully. Great for using in dry arrangements etc. I would love to have some again for using in a large urn. Does anyone know if it will grow here in Surprise, AZ?

You can grow Miscanthus, as long as you are able to meet it's water needs, but you should check with your state DNR, or Cooperative Extension, to see if it is classed as an invasive plant in Arizona.

Several Miscanthus varieties self-sow moderately in my warm zone 7 garden. In your climate, it could be worse.
