| Hello,
I am new to this MB and really like the ornamental grasses. I have a mass planting (40 plants) of little blue stem and a number of Karl Foresters as accent plants in two flower gardens. I have a large property in the prairie and would like to add another mass planting this year. I am located in zone 4 in the Coulee region of Wisconsin near LaCrosse and really need some ideas. I really like the height of the Little Blue Stem. I am thinking about Pennisetum Alopecuroides - Hamelin - Dwarf Fountain Grass. Yes/No? It is the prairie, lots of wind, and dry normally. I love the Purple Fountain grass, but use that as an annual in containers. Will the Dwarf Fountain Grass survive the winters? Thanks for all suggestions in advance. |

| Although the books say it's only hardy to Z6, Bluestem says Z4, and he's a cold climate ornamental grass specialist. Check out the website for other ideas. He has some great pics of mass plantings of OG's. |
