? when to plant pampass out side

Hello all I was wondering if some one can tell me when to plant my pampas plants out side? im zone 7 west Tenn. I have five small plants with the roots that I receive in the mail. The roots are bagged up right now and the top part is brown or gold,I really don't know what to do with them .Should I just leave it like it is right now? should I put in a dark place? or could I go ahead and plant Them ?its been really rainy here .

It may still be a little early to plant them outside. I'd pot them up, and keep them outdoors when it's above freezing, but bring them in, to a cool but not freezing location in bad weather. Cut the foliage down to just a couple of inches.

Let them stay in the pots until you're well past any cold weather, and then install them. Chances are they're dormant, and will stay that way until April or May.
