All you lovers of the varieties of Purple fountain grasses, prepare yourself for a laugh.

I was showing a friend photos of my garden - she was really excited by the grasses so .... I suggested that she might like to try one of the purple fountain grasses - since they would be perfectly hardy for her.

Bridging a language gap (spanish & english), she finally understood what grass I was talking about and this is what she said

"oh! My mother-in-law grows those grasses to feed the livestock" NO!!!! .....

Well, actually YES - in Costa Rica purple fountain grasses grow on the side of the road AND are planted as food for horses, etc. :o) Check out the photos! (pouring rain in the last two pics)
