Ornamental Grass

Plant grasses out now?

I purchased some grasses (Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerester', Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Overdam' and Carex flagellifera) -- is it okay to plant out now? They have been sitting in their containers in my backyard, unprotected, for the last week.

The charts say the last frost date for my area is May 26.

They'll be more protected in the ground, than in their pots outside. Go for it.

Kyrstine, just piping in from your zone & province with a thumbs up on planting your grasses now. They will be just fine in the garden. If we have a VERY hard freeze either Calamagrostis 'might' get a little burnt on the leaves but it won't hurt them. I will be digging, dividing & moving some of mine this week (they have about 6 inches of new growth).
