New Pennisetum naming...

More news from Rick Darke.

Grass taxonomist J.K. Wipff has determined that 'Eaton Canyon' and 'Rubrum' are actually hybrids between P. macrostachyum and P. setaceum. Consequently, they are now known as Pennisetum x advena 'Eaton Canyon' and 'Rubrum.'

Unfortunately, they're still only hardy to zone 9. :>(

Man... what good does the renaming do if they're still only hardy to zone 9?! ;)

I don't know 'Eaton Canyon' but I really really really would like a reliable way to grow and propagate 'Rubrum.' *sigh*
