Where to Get 0-13-13?

Posted by damutha (My Page) on

I am trying to establish a few beds of Little Bluestem on a hill in my backyard, using seed. I have seen recommendations to mix the seed with a 0-13-13 fertilizer, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I also read that you can use 0-13-13 as a carrier when seeding Little Bluestem.

However, I read differently in the following article on recommendations for establishing warm season/prairie grasses...

"A carrier such as pelletized lime or saw dust is suggested to evenly spread the seed. Do not use fertilizer as a carrier! Fertilizer encourages vigorous competition from annual weeds and grasses."

Here is a link that might be useful: Warm Season Grass

Thanks for that. I wonder if they are speaking mostly about the nitrogen? I'm not sure the P and K would boost the weeds too much---more for helping the roots on the grass?

You're probably right. Still don't know where to look...maybe Lesco?
