I've had a couple people email me asking about Pennisetum 'Piglet' I really like it. It is smaller than most but bigger and less stiff than 'Little Bunny'

Another photo

It is about 18" tall and wide at two or three years old in these photos from last summer.

Fall coloration

It turns color in fall

Looks like this now

Still early here for grasses to emerge

Very pretty, thanks for sharing photos and info.

I have been looking for a smaller grass. The one I was interested in isn't available at the nursery. They did have "piglet" however :-)

I'm assuming yours is sited in full sun. Has it ever "flopped" for you after rain, etc? Also I worry about it doing the "do-nut" thing...

RE: Piglet small fountain grass

No flopping and we have lots of rain and no donuting either.

flame miscanthus does that for me but not any of my fountain grasses.

RE: Piglet small fountain grass

Did you find those in pots or did you grow them from seed? I've never done OG from seed and am a little intimidated by the process! I'd be grateful if you'd share your source for that variety!

RE: Piglet small fountain grass

I bought it from Santa Rosa Gardens in a pot. On sale.
