Help. Will my Feather Reed Grass 'Avalanch' flop?

Dear Garden Folk

OK...I found a great deal, $5.00 each, for Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Avalanche' - Variegated Feather Reed Grass

...got it home, looked it up and found a picture of really floppy grass surrounding a shallow mound. This is so far from what I need. I need upright. Question...does it flop all season or was this a misleading picture. If they're not going to work would anyone like some Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Avalanche' - Variegated Feather Reed Grass?

This is what healthy C. x a. 'Avalanche' looks like:

The initial growth, which is visible at the base in this photo, is fountain-like in habit. The flower stalks rise from the initial growth, and are almost rigidly upright, and remain that way throughout and after the season.

donn and i have been discussing whether i should use 'Avalanche' in my garden

I will start posting on the forum.

...I'm hesitant to use the grasses as the stalks look rather dead to me but they fit in my garden budget so nicely.

What to do...hmm, what to do...
