Japanese Blood Grass companion plants

I planted some Japanese Blood Grass in a bed a few years ago, and it's doing quite well. I wanted to see if I could plant some companion plants amongst the grass, such as perennial flowers. I don't even know how that would look, but I was thinking of something tall like cone flowers or black-eyed susans. Any suggestions?
