Miscanthus mealybug

Has anyone had an experience with Miscanthus mealybug? I dug up a yaku jima that didn't do well last year (and which didn't come up this spring) and found these wooly-looking bugs crawling all over just under the surface. Being new to ornamental grasses, I now know that I should have seen the signs of the infestation last year. I identified the bugs through a book as mealybug and then sprayed the soil completely with a dormant oil that claims to kill mealybug (after I dug out and destroyed the dead grass). My question is this: Is this area safe to plant another grass in it's place or should I avoid this spot alltogether? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
