Carex pendula and related varieties

I have noticed a native or naturalized "grass" along our greenbelt that is quite ornamental. It forms a nice uniform clump about 2-3' tall with leaf blades that weep attractively towards the ends. It also has flower/seed clusters that hang like catkins towards the ends.

After looking through several grass books, the plant appears to be Carex pendula or a related native variety like C. crinata or C. sylvatica. It is growing in shady areas near a small stream. Anyway, it seems to be a nice native ornamental grass and I plan to dig up a small clump and try growing it in a container on my patio. It would seem to be a good candidate for an ornamental grass in a shady location.

Anyone have any experience growing this variety or something similar?
