| Hey Chris, I'm not sure what the night time temps were in New Hampshire mid-April, or whether these were greenhouse grown, moving outside? Those can be factors in how the grasses are looking. If they are rooting out and are getting adequate water (not drying up) they should be fine in a garden center potting mix (avoid mixes that are not as well-draining - if you squeeze a clump of wet soil in your hand, does it make a mud ball or break apart?). The time-release is fine. I use time-release in nearly all my container soil mixes for ornamental grasses. They don't need over fertilization once established, but I find the time-release with new grass plantings to be helpful. Trimming back is ok, as new growth is emerging. |
