Pennisetum Glaucum and Imperata Cylindrica, containers, hardiness

Tell me about these: Pennisetum Glaucum (Purple Majesty Ornamental Millet) and Imperata Clylindrica (Japanese Blood Grass). The millet says on the tag, "Annual", hardy to -20 F; the Imperata, Perennial, hardy to 0 F. IÂm taking both these definitions with a grain of salt, as they seem to be swapped with reference to temps. (How big a grain, I ask?)

How likely are either of these to be perennial in my Zone 5, in a wind protected location? IÂm new to grasses.

Are either of these suitable for a large container? (fiberglass, 1 ft wide by 2 feet long by 1 ft deep, footed, raised off the ground 1 inch, where Asiatic lilies have successfully overwintered for 3 years now) Or are they both better off planted in the ground? IÂd like something tall for this container and think the millet would be good. But I could also sink a clay pot into the larger container and then move it into the veggie garden in the fall if that would improve its chances of overwintering.

Thanks!
