How to Trim Blue Oat Grass Seed Heads

I grow blue oat grass as a foliage plant. I don't like the blooms.

I would like advice on getting rid of blooms. Is it better to pull out the bloom shoots from as low down as possible or is it better to snip off the bloom shoots?

My goal is to enjoy the foliage for the remainder of the season.

Last year I cut off the seed heads after bloom, but I didn't like the "brush cut" effect.
