Here's a nice article about Panicum Ruby Ribbons.

They'll be more readily available next spring. For this fall, I think that White Flower Farm and Santa Rosa Gardens are pre-booking orders. More retailers (like Home Depot and Lowes) will likely be carrying them next spring, as the wholesale growers sell inventory. Always takes a while for new items to build up stock in the industry...especially exclusive, exciting varieties like this one.

Panicum virgatum Ruby Ribbons is said to be and improvenent on Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah'Â I have planted Shenandoah many time and it's hard to beat-it is gorgous and easy to find in a good garden center (maybe not mass markets tho). I planted Ruby Ribbons last year so the jury is still out. Try Shenandoah!

Thank you grass guy for the photo. Do some panicums have a reddish cloud over the forage? Or is the "ruby" only in the blades?
