I think I lost a lot of established grasses last winter.

I'm rather upset -- I had quite a few mature clumps of grasses that seem to be not coming back, and it's looking more and more like they are dead. Five or 6 big clumps of various varieties of Miscanthus, some Panicums, a Calamagrotis. Also, of about a dozen new Erianthus I planted last year, only a couple seem to be coming back.

What I find strange about it is that they succumb during an exceptionally MILD winter, after a mild and wet growing season in which they seemed to thrive. I could see them dying after a particularly cold, harsh winter, but they should have sailed through last winter.

Was it the dampness/moisture? We had record precipitation last year for the Detroit area.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to replace them.
