How deep is the bed?

I personally prefer Morning Light as a specimen where the foliage can be completely seen with light behind it, rather than the backdrop of a perennial bed. The Karley Rose will get 3 ft and block much of the foliage. I'd use a darker bladed miscanthus grass in the back to contrast with the Karley Rose flowering.

Here is a nice shot of Karley Rose in bloom. The height is enough to realy cover most of the foliage of any grass behind it. If I were using Morning Light, I'd have a shorter grass fronting it.

I decided based on your comments layer Crimson Barberry against the house, put Karley Rose in front of that and I planted the Morning Light in my backyard as individual specimens in beds where it will get light filtering through.

The color on the Crimson Barberry is really complimentary to the Karley Rose and it should get just a bit higher than it which will give me the layering I wanted for that space. I was planting it yesterday and people were stopping to say how nice it looked. Can't wait to see how nice it will be when it all grows in!

I'd say that the Karley Rose would outgrow the Crimson Pygmy by the end of the year. It would not, however, outgrow Barberry 'Rosy Glow' a taller cultivar.
