Will miscanthus family of grasses do well in a naturally high moiture area of my garden (good drainage). I have tried panicum heavy metal--great growth but extremely floppy. Any specific suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Philip

Panicum and Miscanthus are similar in their reaction to moist soil. They are both comfortable with moist soil, as long as it drains well and does not leave them with wet feet. If your site was too moist for 'Heavy Metal' it may well be too moist for Miscanthus as well.

You might look at more erect cultivars of both Panicum and Miscanthus. Other relatively tall and moisture tolerant grasses include Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' and Chasmanthium latifolium.
