Cortaderia selloana, "White Pampas" in suppossed to be zone 7, but I read scattered reports that it can sometimes live farther north, but maybe they are getting it confused with Ravenna Grass. They sell it at Lowes's, probably because they are stupid. The source nursery (on the pot) is from Ohio near Lake Erie, which is odd. And I'm the fool who bought one because I want to try something unusual (for Ohio) to see what it will do.
So does it really ever survive in Ohio? Would it actually get big? Is it worth the challenge? Does it turn a nice brown like other ornamental grass in winter, or would it just look awful or fall apart and be a pain?
