Tall Rush or Reed that can survive seasonal flooding and mowing

There is a a spot that is flooded in the Spring but dries and is mowed in the summer.

Can anyone think of any kinds of ornamental grass, rush, or reed that can survive when the field is flooded and would look pretty, but which can also survive mowing in the summer. Ideally I want something Native to North America that either won't grow in the (surrounding) spots that are dry and mowed in the spring, or will sort of blend in when mowed. Zone 6, lots of sun, good soil.

I like the look of cattails and Spring flowers, but there probably isn't something like that fits the bill.
