Miscanthus and full sun?

After doing some research, I am wondering about Miscanthus and sun requirements. Bluestem lists all their Miscanthus varieties as needing full sun, but I've seen other Websites list some for sun/part sun (I will put the link for one of those sites below).

My spot gets decent sun for much of the day, but is shaded by a neighbor's tree in the late afternoon (the tree is very dense, almost more a very tall bush, and directly to the south).

So, for those of you with more experience (well, since I have none, any would be "more"), do you think Miscanthus can do well in less than full sun? (I want it to flower!)

If Miscanthus won't work there, I think I'll go with Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster', as my research tells me it might be more tolerant (is that a true statement?).

Thanks much!
