M. sinensis by street?

My landlord has finally agreed to take out the huge ugly hedge in front of my house. I'd like to plant several of a variety of M. sinensis - maybe "Morning light".

There is plenty of sun, but the location of about 10 feet from a busy street. Do you think they'd do OK?

The only concern I'd have is the potential of road salt when the street is plowed. Traffic exhaust won't hurt them.
