question about planting OG in new sort of lasagna bed

Hi all,

I wandered to this forum to ask about growing ornamental grasses from seed, saw the post about Santa Rosa gardens...say no more! forget the seed for now! I must stop lurking on gardenweb. anyway, the bed I was planning ahead for is not even made yet. I was planning flipping the grass, covering with carboard, unfinished compost, etc. I have a pile of fresh wood chips from a tree company that I was going to mulch with. I think fresh wood chips can burn small plants, right? are grasses picky about being planted out? should I consider growing them in pots while the bed matures? I ordered

Nassella tenuissima, Pennisetum alopecuroides Cassian, Cortaderia selloanna Pumila. thank you!
