smallest varieties of Pennisetum?

| Hi there! Was hoping someone here could tell me what the smallest Pennisetum cultivars are? Your opinion of them please? Think I read that 'Piglet' is a small one, but perhpas there are some even smaller. I have a front of the bed area that I would love to fill with a grass, but it has to be small.
Also, will these small types of Pennisetum come true from seed? Or would it be best for me to just get one at the nursery or order?
Thanks much for your help and info!

| P. a. 'Little Honey' is smaller than 'Piglet.' I love all the dwarf Pennisetums, so I can't be objective about my opinion of them. |

Thanks so much Donn! I will have to look into that 'Little Honey' you mentioned. I don't suppose there are any dwarf varieties with somewhat pinkish/red plumes are there? CMK |

| There is a terminology issue with Pennisetums. Cultivars considered "dwarf" go all the way up to 3'x 3'. There is one dwarf, at ~3' x 3', with burgundy foliage and flowers. It's P. setaceum 'Eaton's Canyon.' Unfortunately, it isn't hardy to your zone (or mine). I've grown it as an annual, and it's a really fast grower, so I get a good long season out of it. The little-bitty Fountain Grasses are more appropriately called miniatures; 'Little Honey,' 'Little Bunny' and 'Piglet,' in order of size from smallest to largest. |
