Edging with Fountain Grass

Do you think fountain grass (the perennial kind) would be a nice edging plant. If so how far apart should it be planted. Also would it be wise to cut the seed heads off before it goes into winter thus eliminating the chance of reseeding in other spots. Thanks so much.

There are at least half a dozen different sorts of Fountain Grass which are hardy in your zone, and they are all different sizes. I would think the smaller ones, like 'Little Bunny,' 'Little Honey' and 'Piglet' would make very good edgers.

Only a couple of the common Fountain Grasses will self seed; 'Moudry' and 'National Arboretum.' Even those might have trouble creating volunteers in your zone.
