Erianthus ravennae... the Plumes are cool when they shoot up, and add winter interest... but it seems slow to emerge and rather ugly until August, and takes up alot of space after a few years

so is it worth the space in your opinion?

In my opinion, I like Ravannae grass! It's bold, tall, and different than others. I have lots of grasses and after a while you'll find certain characteristics about all that you'll like. Patience is the key. I have a mature plant that is about to bloom at this time. It's a very nice grass.
Enjoy,
Anthony in TN.

I love the grass. If I had a bigger yard I'd plant more. It takes a few years for the grass get its nice looking form. I like how the stems turn red before blooming. Be sure not to fertilize or water excessively or it will flop. Speaking of personal experience, here. And another thing I just thought of, It looks so cool watching the wind blow through those long blades of grass.
