Walnut trees & Grasses -- Possible?

We live on the edge of a timber that has many black walnut trees growing there. I would like to move some Miscanthus divisions to the perimeter of the yard but am concerned that they may be affected by the juglone produced by the walnuts. The lists of juglone sensitive and/or tolerant plants on the web are not very complete, often contradictory, and based primarily on observation, not science.

Have any of you had success with planting Miscanthun in the vicinity of walnuts? Other grasses, e.g., Kentucky blue grass, grows well right up to the trunks of the walnuts, so I'm hoping that my ornamentals will also. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Oh, just thought of another potential problem -- deer. I know that they will eat almost anything if they are really hunger, but they don't seem to bother the grasses in other places in the yard nearer the house. Any experiences out there to share?
