Small variety for lining a blacktop driveway ?

I am thinking ornamental grasses instead of instead of an expensive cooblestone border for a basic blacktop drieway? A line of attractive small grasses along the edge of the driveway would look good to dress it up - it has a rough cheap poured border.
Suggestions as to type? Maybe a mixture of similar sized types for variety?

I use a variety of small Carex plants, backed by larger ornamental grasses to line my driveway. I have the Carex in groupings of 5, with matching groups on each side of the driveway.

The biggest problem with masses of the same grass will always be the dead plant, or the reverted plant. I keep a nursery bed with extra copies of the same plants in the back garden, to use as substitutes
