Suggestion for something like Red Fountain but smaller

I have three large Pennisiteum Rubrums and love them but they are annuals here and I'm hoping to find something shorter. I thought of Karley Rose, I like the soft pink inflorescence but the darker Rubum just works better. If I must, I'll go with another annual but shorter and in the color range of Rubum is what I'm hoping for. Any suggestions?

There are a few purple Pennisetums which are smaller than Rubrum:

Pennisetum setaceum 'Eaton Canyon'
Pennisetum purpureum 'Princess Molly'
Pennisetum purpureum 'Princess'
Pennisetum purpureum 'Princess Caroline'

The newest entry in the Royal Pennisetum Collection is Pennisetum purpureum 'First Knight.' It's about the same size as Rubrum, but it's rumored to be marginally hardy to zone 7. I'm going to give it a try next year. It probably won't reach its full size potential in zone 7.
