A question about growing grass indoors

Hi all,

I am new to the forums and would like to say hello! I have a question. I am very new to gardening, but I like simple houseplants. I would like to grow a grass plant indoors over winter. most of the plants I have read online about are: wheatgrass, barleygrass etc., but these have a lifespan that is very short. I would like to find a grass that will grow indoors in a tray that looks nice but will live throughout the winter with water feeding and trimming/maintenance. I like the look of wheatgrass but I do not intend on eating whatever I grow. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba so winters are long, but should offer enough light for growing inside. I would like to grow the plant from seeds but I do not know what the best species will be for me; could someone help me out? According to the Canadian plant hardiness map I am within Hardiness zone 2b, but other maps place it within 3a. Really, all I want is a small tray of green grass to get me through winter. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!
