| Found this one on sale without a tag, it looks like Leymus arenarius 'Blue Dune' per the Santa Rosa Gardens website:

I think you're right. It's about the same color as Leymus magellanicus, but has more erratic blades. Be careful where you plant it. It will run, by rhizomes, particularly in your warm zone. I have a clump of 5 of them, and they are isolated, on two sides by lawn, and two sides by 40 mil bamboo barrier.

Thanks for the confirmation, donn, it was 50% off and I like the color for contrast. I'll keep it confined. Had a good day at the nursery yesterday, picked up a nice assortment of Chasmanthium latifolium 'River Mist', Muhlenbergia lindheimeri, nassella tenuissima, Carex texensis all 50% off and plenty of planting weather left.

That is a good day! I love 'River Mist.' It's a pleasant change from plain-old C. latifolium.

| Here they are three 'River Mist' already planted. Half price = buy 2 get 1 free doesn't it? It was really windy tonight and they were really moving, but you get the idea.

"Half price = buy 2 get 1 free doesn't it?" That would be 1/3 off. Three for the price of two.

LOL, that's right, what was I thinking! Anyway I got three because they were such a good deal. Usually $7.99 each, it really adds up at full price.

Could that Leymus possibly be 'Canyon Prince'? Looks kind of floppy for 'Blue Dune'.
RE: ID please

It could be 'Canyon Prince' too. It's planted in a demo garden at one of their locations so I'll check there. I need to go back anyway since I keep thinking about all those grasses 50% off. They had deer muhly and I should probably get that to try.

Looks like they are out of Lindheimeri Muhly until spring and they don't carry Deer Muhly, I went back and checked because I wanted that last year. I ordered seeds for the Deer Muhly from Plants of the SW last fall. Sowed every seed in a wide pot and ended up with 8 plants last fall that wintered over here in Okla. Planted in spring and they are now nice sized blooming specimens, gallon or larger sized. They grew fast but the seed is erratic. Kind of good since you know it won't be invasive. Anyways, if you want it, thats a good way to go. $3.00 for 8 plants. Can't beat that.

I went to a local nursery fall sale, we are fortunate to have a lot of options around here. I would love to find Pine muhly though and might have to order from High Country. The Pine muhly at this blog is a real showstopper this year.
Here is a link that might be useful: Plano Prairie

Sorry, I just re-read and realize I thought you were saying you ordered from Santa Rosa Gardens. You are lucky to have a local source with a 50% OFF sale no less. I'm jealous. I ordered that Muhly cross from HCG called 'Pink Flamingo". Its gorgeous! Looks like a M. lindheimerri with much bluer and darker leaves but with fluffy pink plumes that are a knockout in the late afternoon sun. Easily, its my favorite grass right now but the Deergrass is the favorite for summer interest. The M. reverchonii, very pretty too.

Just found Pine muhly today at The Antique Rose Emporium. It wasn't on sale, but worth it since it's been on my list. I've been hearing good things about 'Pink Flamingo' too and might check if one of the local places carry it in the spring. Just planted a bunch of Lindheimer's to replace underperforming Miscanthus. I see Deergrass offered for sale here too so might check that out. Have to plant my new stuff first and make new planting areas over the winter.

I will look to see if Pine muhly is at Natural Garden or Barton Springs nursery. I have seen them there before.

If you act fast, High Country Gardens has it on their end of season half off sale which ends in a couple days or so for $4.25 each.

I saw it at Madrone nusery in San Marcus Texas also.
