Watering/feeding schedule for Miscanthus

| I have some Miscanthus 'Gracillimus'and Maiden Grass in my yard but I'm not sure about watering and feeding.
I've always kept them pretty dry and withheld fertilization for fear of making them too floppy but I think I may be going too far. I'm in zone 7 and we had a hot, dry summer and they all look kind of dried out.
What do you all do?

| I water Miscanthus if it hasn't had rain for 2 weeks. The only ferts they get is a soil drench with very dilute compost/seaweed tea when they first start their annual growth. |

| My miscanthus grasses are growing in very sandy soil. I water about every five days during the hottest part of summer and no fertilizer. |
