Hello--i have some of these plants growing outside my house-I live in central wisconsin and would like to bring them in for the winter.They are doing so well and i see they are getting new babies at the bottom of the plant.Does anyone have a suggestion or a website i can go to to help me out. thanks peggy

'King Tut' is a named cultivar of Cyperus papyrus, owned by Proven Winners. According to them, it "is not a candidate to overwinter inside," but they don't say why.

I just had someone ask me the same thing, and it does state on the proven winners website that it is not a candidate to winter indoors.. besides a lot of bugs can be brought indoors which can be risky..

I had to look this up.

Since they said its hardy to 35 degrees maybe at least the roots would winter over in a garage that didn't drop below freezing then, you could cut it back in spring and hope for new growth? Might be worth a try anyway.

good idea cactus. I overwintered it (once) in the garage (above freezing yet cool) cut back and kept on the dry side.... just a little watering once a month or so. It was alongside the dahlias and cannas.

I've killed it indoors though.

I've read that it grows easily from seed (Christopher Lloyd) and the seedlings will overwinter indoors. Might try this some time to see how it works out.

Hmm, It was sold to me as a perennial. I see it growing around Austin. I had not looked to see if it would survive. It didn't even cross my mind. I think it is even invasive in some areas of Texas . Well, I will throw some leaves around it and see if it comes back. .. Oh Well. It is right where my grey water drains.
