McD's mystery grass

Years ago, I pulled into a McDonald's that had the most beautiful grass in the drive up lane. The cashier said it was Indian Blood Grass an annual in MI, but perennial in warmer climates. My web searches indicate that this is not a name of a grass. What else could it have been? Or, does IBG really exist?

The grass was least 2-3 feet tall with the plumes reaching another foot. The bottom of the grass was green, the top 50% was a vivid red like a maple leaf in the fall. I forget what color the plumes were. When you looked at the plant, you saw LOTS of red. I think the blades were coarse. It was a fairly upright plant. The clerk said it got lots of attention and the owner planted one every year. Anyone see one like that outside their McDonald's in Michigan?
