In their infinite wisdom, the developer planted some evil grass plants in my courtyard. They keep growing!! Invasive!! In their place I would love roses or citrus.... Please identify and come over and dig up! I am not... NOT... happy with this grass!! Sheesh!! I took photos but I can't copy and paste!! Grrrrrrrrrr... Anyway. It doesnt bloom It doesnt fruit. It is useless!!! How do I get rid of it? I'll use chemicals!! I do not care. I want it out!!

If you would like to email me I will send you a photo. I don't know why I can't post one.

I'd recommend checking out photobucket to post images in this forum.

How do you know that the grass is invasive if you don't know the identity?

Post a pic and you should be able to get an id.

grass guy, it is invasive because it just keeps multiplying!! I took your advice. Here it is: http://s430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/DesertDance/?action=view¤t=EvilGrass2.jpg

It is taking up space that I would like to use for a plant that gives back! Like a rose, a citrus. So How do I get it out? I'm a lady with arthritis. Is there something I can Kill it with? Or, do you grass lovers want to come over and dig?

Thanks!

The image links didn't work, so I tracked down the username on photobucket. Here are the images:

Evil Grass 2

and

Evil Grass 3

Hard to id for sure...maybe someone here can give a good id from these photos. Could be an erianthus. or even a cortaderia...foliage is cut back.

Be careful calling a plant invasive simply because it's not what you want in your garden.

It appears to be a clumping grass, no larger than a 3 gallon size clump. Best way to get rid of these is with a shovel...like you would an unwanted shrub or misplaced rosebush.

I call it invasive because it just gets bigger! The perimeter... OMG!! every year! It is taking over!!

I'd find someone who can handle a shovel versus trying to use an herbacide on them. They really don't look that tough to dig out, but it will take a little bit of shoveling.

Landscapers often don't think about mature plant size when they plant grasses.

Thanks for the ideas! I wish I was strong enough to dig them out. I tried pulling, but no go!

I have no idea how to solve your grass problem, but I want to commend you on the most humorous post I've ever read on Gardenweb. You have delightfully expressed the utter exasperation many of us feel over our own garden problems. Laughing over your post I realized I was really laughing at myself.....I do so much empathize!

Best of luck to you, and to all of us! Keep smiling!

It looks pretty in the photos... adds a softening touch to the garden. But I know many home-owners like their gardens sterile-looking and perfectly manicured.
