Are Grasses Perennials?

Posted by loweride 4b (My Page) on

I want to plant some ornamental grasses, but don't want to replant them every year. My wife planted a couple last year and they never came back. So how do I know which ornamental grasses will come back every year?

How do you care for them? Do you cut them down in fall or let them be through the winter? If I got Zebra Grass, would it come back in spring?

RE: Are Grasses Perennials?

Some are perennial and some are annual.

Your best bet is to study the information at Bluestem.ca They specialize in ornamental grasses for cold climates, and have many listings of perennial grasses which will work in your zone. They also have plenty of care information.

Here is a link that might be useful: Bluestem
