ornamental grasses

We just bought 10 acres in the Sierra foothills of California (zone 9 I think) 2000' elevation. It is very overgrown and was neglected for many years. We are clearing and I want to save some money on re-landscaping so I found this discussion very helpful. We have many large rock outcropping and I want to keep the property looking very natural. We have Ponderosa Pine, a variety of Oaks (evergreen and some deciduous) Toyon, Manzanita, Incense Cedar, other pinesÂIt gets hot in the summer here and just a little snow in the winter. The soil is very loose; IÂve heard it is decomposing granite. I love the look of ornamental grasses! Any suggestions from any of you? I have tried to attach a picture, hope it works.
