What groundcover besides Kudzu

I bought a bigger place (21 acres)this fall near Augusta, GA that has several large ponds. One of the ponds (3 acres) has a rather steep embankment down to it (can barely walk up it) that is mostly covered in grass but has erosion spots in it. I know kudzu would grow too great on it and I'd never be able to control it as I had some experience with it at another residence. Would crownvetch or something similar work. The soil is a sand and clay mix and I could water it. I don't want to be hobbling on it with a weedeater as it's rather long (at least 300 feet X 40) and my kubota tractor isn't going to be able to go down it without a water landing : ). Thoughts? Thanks

Your local Cooperative Extension Service may be able to help you. See the link below for Augusta/Richmond County.

Crown vetch may be too invasive for your area, as it spreads by both roots/rhizomes and seeds. And it can be poisonous to horse, if you have any.

Maybe there is something better.
