No, but you do need to narrow it down some......shade or sun, evergreen or not, weed suppression or just ornamental value?

For zone 8 in sun to partial shade, I'd recommend Veronica umbrosa 'Georgia Blue', often sold as Veronica peduncularis - nearly fully evergreen (with a nice bronzey tint to winter foliage), a modest spreader, long bloom season (almost always showing some bloom pretty much year round) and relatively low water requirements. But not great at suppressing weeds.

But the list of potential groundcovers for zone 8 is very long - many others will work equally as well.

I planted Blue Pacific juniper years ago to fill in an area that I built up and although I like Blue Rug, it is a much slower grower then Pacific and the only water it gets is from Mother nature and last year that was nil and its still going strong.

Ajuga is my number one for shady or partially shady areas, lamium is number 2 (mine is variegated w/ lighter edges on heart-shaped leaves). In a sunnier area, I have Veronica which is blooming now. Ajuga spreads by individual plant out into the surrounding area. The other two make nice neat mats that spread. I am sure there are lots of other choices, these are just what I have and enjoy. Oh, and I have Lambs Ear. It is a taller plant w/ wonderful silvery, fuzzy leaves. Good luck finding one you like. Brandy
