Liriope muscari vs. Liriope spicata

Can anyone tell me a way to visibly distinguish between Liriope muscari and Liriope spicata?

I have an area that is about 25 yards long and 10 feet wide on the side of the house. About 18 feet of it is raised beds on each side. Would you plant spicata there? Or would it still be too much maintenance to control?

P.S. It receives full sun on the ends (5 feet each end) and the rest is filtered-to-heavy shade.

Thanks.
