A plant that is called "jasmine" is used widely for ground cover in Texas and I thought it would be a smap to pull up information about this plant. However, every jasmine I see has flowers. This groundcover plant has no flowers. Does anyone know what I am talking about and what is it's true name? I would also like to know what can be done to make it form a thick carpet. Should you clip the long runners to make them branch?
Trachelospermum asiaticum - Asian Jasmine and Confederate Jasmine are widley used in TX, they are not true jasmine, but they do have flowers and are evergreen.
I am looking for a verity of Asian Jasmine that is dark green in color and has few if any flowers. I want to replace my St. Augustine lawn with a very low profile growing Jasmine that can be mowed once a month and will not demand a lot of moisture and will grow in central Florida.
