Groundcover for center of circular drive

We have finally poured a circular drive in front of our house and have 6 Natchez crepe myrtles planted in the center island. Since it will be a mowing nightmare, and high groundcovers are snake habitats here, we're thinking about using creeping thyme.

We are in high humidity, high heat zone 9.

Any experience or suggestions?

Adjua aka buggle weed. It did great for me when I lived in Zone 7 so I'm sure it would just take off for you in Zone 9. With different types of adjua it could provide some great color. You don't need to plant alot of it as it grows pretty fast. Very easy to divide. Good Luck
