Japanese spurge in boggy full sun conditions?

I've got this spot that stays wet so today I figured I'd go pull up some cattails and plant them there; well I found a japanese spurge growing from this abandoned house right down to the ditch so I pulled a bag of that up and planted it in that wet, full sun spot (hoping to dry it up a bit there.) Do you think it's going to be able to handle the full Florida sun, even though it will have a constant water source, or should I abandon this idea and replant it somewhere else?
