Ice Plant

Hopefully someone can help me. I have been growing Delosperma cooperi (ice plant) for about 3 years now in one area. The plant is starting to look bare in places, dead areas. But in other places it looks really good. What do I need to do in the winter or before it starts to put out alot of new growth this year to "clean" it up. Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

When I lived in South Carolina this was one of my favorite ground covers, except for the problem you are having. You will need to trim it back as soon as you see new growth, don't do any trimming at the end of the season this growth takes the freezes. I also had to transplant new growth to fill in the bald areas.

I need to do this now? It has started growing all in the front of it but really not any in other places. It looks so scraggly (sp) right now. Thanks so much for your help, I really do appreciate it!
