I'm in the pacific northwest and just seeded a ditch with white clover. I rerouted a drive for more privacy and security and cleaned-out a 300 foot ditch. The ditch is necessary to promote road drainage (dirt road w/gravel) but it becomes clogged with scotch broom and weeds...and thus requires maintenance. I thought the clover was worth a try because it is low-growing (no mowing), drought resistant, and would help solve erosion problems so the road water would drain well on our many rainy days without softening the shoulder and keeping the road surface hard.

What I've read is that it is supposed to be sowed in the fall and I've recently sowed it ...but, I didn't want to leave the ditch bare because it doesn't take much for the scotch broom to come back. I think I'll resow in the autumn.

I hope that one of the many knowledgeable people here respond to your thread because I'm not an expert and don't have experience with the white clover. I'm like you, it was the best solution I could think of and I jumped-in.
