If you are calling Turkish sedum Sedum ellacombianum, my experience has been this: I planted it when there was a lot of sun on the area within 6' of a small river birch. the sedum has florished but now that the birch puts it in nearly all day shade it is thinning out. Seemed to do fine when in a half day's sun or more.
Again if this is Sedum ellacombianum, it doesn't "run" but the clumps slowly expand. Because of this I'm not sure that it would be a good erosion control plant. You can spread it in midsummer when the bases of the stems get "woody." Pull a stem, strip all but a few leaves on the tip, stick a pencil in the ground to make a hole, insert the bare stem fairly deeply, press the soil against it. A new clump will start there.
