Creeping Charlie

I've partially given up the battle with creepy Charlie on one side of my yard since my neighbor's yard is over-run with it. Currently I have 2 rose bushes growing in the corner and I want to design a butterfly garden around the roses. Will the creepy Charlie smother the perennials? I thinned the Charlie somewhat to prepare for planting but I know it's a losing battle I fought for many years. I plan on adding Milkweed, Phlox, Verbena, Penstemon and similar host plants. Can they survive if I let the Charlie go?

Creeping Charlie is not tall enough or robust enough to smother larger growing perennials. I wouldn't worry.
