Cutting back Vinca Major?

Posted by joanntx Zone 8 (My Page) on

This year it has really taken off, getting high and spreading out. BUT it is higher that I would prefer ie about 1.5'. Is it ok if I cut it back a little with a weedeater? It is still nice outside but by June it will be really hot so maybe this would not be prudent???

It grows upright in spring with the new foliage, but will start growing verticle soon. Why don't you wait just a bit to see if it lays down a bit. I have a large bed of vinca, and it is fairly low growing. About 6 inches I would guess.
